Making the Show Reel

To make the Show Reel I began by planning the order of when I’m going to show which brief, it went: -        Signature -        Mosi -        App -        Creative play -        KidsCan -        Tuesday’s brief I then started to make some of the video clips, so what I did for the posters is that I created Gifs on Photoshop of the posters going in and out of shot, then added this Gif into Premier to edit it, I did it this way because I found it very difficult to work with still images in Premier and on Aftereffects so it was easier for me to do it this way. Then I added in all the videos from the projects, such as the course booklet, KidsCan motion piece, App video, and the Creative play video. On top of this I then added an audio track that I got off of YouTube, I used a piano version of a s...

Making the website

I found it difficult to design what each of the pages will look like, and then actually code them to look like that. This is because I’m used to using Adobe products where you can just drag and drop items into the area you want them to be, however with web design you have to code it so that the item is in a specific place. Due to finding it difficult to set up the pages I decided to go onto Photoshop and design what I would want it to look like, then save each image as a JPEG so that the size has been changed.   I began with the Mosi Brief pages as I found it difficult to resize the poster size as it was way too big. I then changed the size of the posters, so they looked best, then saved them as JPEGS at this new size and added them into the Brackets folder. I then added these JPEGS into the brackets code, and they fit how I wanted them to.      I then did the Creative Play HTML, I designed it to show that it would look like. I wan...

Beginning bio for website

Hello, this is the online portfolio for Sophie Husteden. I am a first year Digital Media student at the University of Salford. Since starting the course, we have done six different modules, and learnt lots of new skills and how to use different software’s, such as XD, Aftereffects and Brackets. Overall, my favourite modules have been the KidsCan brief and the Dichotomies brief, this is because KidsCan is the closest to what I want to do for a career in the future, and I liked the contradictions brief as it was very interesting to think about. I also really liked learning how to code as it’s something new that I hadn’t tried before. My least favourite modules have been the App brief and Creative Play, this is due to the fact that I don’t really want to make apps for any future careers, so I didn’t find it interesting, and I didn’t like Creative Play because of the Animation course.

Wireframes for website

I made some wireframes for what I want my website to look like, here they are:

Website and Show reel

I planned out how my website is going to look, by wire framing it all on some paper. Then I made a sitemap on Lucid Chart. Finally, I wrote all the text that was going on the pages.  To start out the website I found a template that had the design style that I wanted and downloaded it. Then I kept the bits I wanted and took out the rest (this being the boxes). I then inserted all my text onto the first page, and created html pages for each of my briefs, and linked them to the home page. I then put all the text into these html pages.  My idea for the show reel was for it to begin with my name being written out, maybe even my signature. Then it goes to the Mosi brief and the lines in the posters lead to the next one.  Since I wanted my name to be written out first, I decided to do this first. I wasn’t sure how to create this effect, so I googled some tutorials. I wanted the font to be my own hand writing, to make it more personal, so I used my Wacom tablet and ...

Bio's for each brief on website

I wrote up some bios for each of the briefs for my website, here they are: The Mosi Brief, better known as 'Digital innovations and Technologies'. The brief was that we had to create three posters to advertise the new exhibit (that we chose) for The Museum of Science and Industries, as well as a leaflet and an extended project (of our choice). The idea for my exhibit was to have it show the evolution of how we consume news, from print, to radio and television, and finally social media. So, I decided to base my posters off of these three times to do one poster on each. For my extended project I made some mock ups of what some infographics I would create for the exhibition. The Creative Play brief was that we were put into groups including some of the animation students, we had to create what we think a future city is going to look like. I was put into a group with three animation students and two other people from my course. We decided we were going to make an adverti...
